Peruvian "Criollo" Cacao
Indulge in our exquisite Criollo Cacao, meticulously cultivated by the Asháninka Tribes and local farming communities nestled in the heart of the Amazonian rainforest in Satipo, Junin, Peru.
The farmers involved in production lovingly nurture these cacao trees using organic methods and honouring ancestral traditions.
The Criollo bean stands out as one of the finest varieties for ceremonial cacao. Renowned for its rich historical and spiritual significance, it boasts high levels of Theobromine and is celebrated for its exceptional nutritional profile, delightful taste, and captivating aroma.
These beans are incredibly rare, representing only 3% of the global cacao bean production, making them highly coveted and sought after.
How shall I use it?
Use ceremonial cacao in your everyday life for energy and nourishment:

How does it taste?
This ceremonial cacao boasts a rich, full-bodied flavour profile that is truly divine.
With its deep, intense, bitter, and clean pure cacao taste complemented by hints of vibrant citrusy floral notes, it offers a heavenly sensory experience.
When melted, its silky-smooth texture adds a delightful touch to any recipe. When sipped as a heavenly, elixir drink its nurturing, wholesome and "potent" energy envelops the senses.
Guaranteed Quality
We take great pride in the exceptional quality of our ceremonial cacao, which may occasionally display variations in appearance. Factors such as temperature fluctuations during storage and transportation can lead to a phenomenon known as fat bloom, wherein cocoa butter rises to the surface, resulting in a whitish film, swirls, or dots. Additionally, you may observe bubbles or slight colour variations, all of which are natural characteristics of minimally processed cacao. Please be assured that these visual variations do not impact the flavour or quality of the product; rather, they serve as a testament to the artisanal nature.
Importantly, please note that bloom does not affect the energetic and vibrational properties of our ceremonial cacao.
If the cacao you receive is bloomed and you prefer a smoother, more uniform cacao experience, you may simply melt a bloomed block, stir it, and allow it to cool in a container. Once hardened, it will form a uniformly blended block, ready for your enjoyment.

Preparation & Serving
How to Prepare Your Cacao Drink
To prepare cacao in its traditional drink form, follow these steps for the best results.
Chop the Cacao
Begin by finely chopping your cacao into small pieces, approximately 1/4 inch in size. Smaller pieces are fine, but avoid cutting them larger than this to ensure they dissolve properly.
Combine with Hot Water
Place the chopped cacao into your cup or blending container. Add hot water at around 60°C (140°F). Avoid using boiling water, as it can degrade the cacao's nutrients and alter its delicate flavour profile.
Blend to Emulsify
Use a whisk, or ideally a hand blender, to emulsify the cacao and water. Blend until the mixture is smooth, silky, and has a light, frothy texture.
Adjust Consistency to Taste
The amount of water added depends on your preferred consistency. For a thicker, more concentrated drink, use less water. Experiment to find your ideal balance.
Recommended Measurements
For precise preparation, use a small kitchen scale, teaspoon, or measuring cup to follow our guidelines below.
Small: 10 grams
This is a small serving of cacao, ideal for beginners or children. It's perfect for those new to cacao who may prefer a milder flavour and lower stimulant effect. Some people use small, daily doses of cacao, such as in the morning, for an energy and clarity boost. While this amount makes a small drink, it’s also delicious raw or sprinkled on food.
Medium: 10 to 25 grams
This amount is suitable for those more accustomed to drinking cacao or consuming stimulants. At this dose, many people start to experience the stimulating and heart-opening effects, though some may require slightly more. It's also ideal if you enjoy two cups a day—one in the morning and another later on.
Large: 25 - 35 grams
This amount is ideal for enhancing creativity, meditation, or as a daily medicinal dose. It’s often used during retreats or before gentle activities like dancing or yoga. This is also a common dose for cacao ceremonies, as it can open the heart and encourage a deeper connection to oneself.

- Although there is no set amount we advise no more than 60-100g of raw cacao in total per day. We offer advisory portion sizes but essentially you must see what works for you.
- For a Drink: 25-30g of Cacao to 200ml of water is our take on a perfect cacao drink.

- Although there are no known allergens present in our products and our overseas suppliers promise us due diligence around them, we cannot guarantee there is no cross contamination.

I am absolutely loving this cacao! I had previously been using powdered cacao- there is no comparison. I’m making it with coconut milk, cinnamon and a dash of maple syrup. It’s like a magic potion that helps me sleep soundly. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful, potent cacao! I had been drinking cacao daily for over a year, feeling the full heart opening qualities. Then I attended an event with Shane and tasted his cacao which is very different, it took me on an important journey of visualisation and release during the ceremony. I feel it helped me to complete a journey of expressing and releasing grief and to heal the last 'old' wounds that I was living with. I bought a bag, loving the chunks which I've not seen before as cacao is usually shaved or in a block. After finishing my usual cacao I drank Jasper cacao for a few days, noticed the difference and ordered 1kg from the website. It has a more bitter, 'stronger' flavour which I'm getting used to and I love it. I truly believe that it has helped me to come back home (finally!) and to deepen further into a state of bliss. I still drink mine the way I always have, with plant milk and cinnamon, prepared in a milk frother for ease. I have recommended Jasper cacao to a few people who are also enjoying it, one friend in particular has found it hugely beneficial after giving up coffee. Ordering is easy, super fast and efficient delivery. Well packaged and arrived safely. I love the ethics of Jasper cacao and having met Shane and Leanne, it's clear how passionate they are about the product and supporting the projects who supply it. I highly recommend!

I am really enjoying the warm happiness I experience after having the cocoa. I have held two of my own cocoa ceremony’s, doing some deep inner child healing and I feel as if the cocoa has definitely enhanced my meditations and allowed for deeper healing. Also I love the taste!

This is THE BEST cacao I’ve ever tasted and as a cacao fascilitator, I have tasted loads. I love the fact it’s 100% organic as I am conscious about what I put in my body. I love the single bean as it’s a pure product. The taste is creamy and the smell is sooooo rich and chocolatey! I use a weak serving daily in the afternoon for my own nourishment and use it in all my cacao ceremonies... Thank you Shane for bringing this amazing food to the UK.

This Cacao is special! It has such a smooth and refined taste that gives you comforting hug in a cup. Most importantly the magic that you feel from this medicine is beautiful. I was a the first person to purchase the Cacao from Shane in office after having it i can say it is the best energising drink to start your day it has a unique flavour and i must say i enjoyed having it, i am definitely switching from a coffee to Cocoa much more healthier and so much more clarity for a long working day, will be purchasing the bigger bag soon as i have finished the one i have.
